Should I list my rural property as residential or commercial?

Almost always residential. Acreage, hobby farms, lifestyle properties and rural retreats list on realestate.com.au and Domain in the rural category, alongside residential listings.

What decides it is the zoning, not how you use the property. A rural-zoned property that runs as a farmstay or holiday rental still lists as rural. Commercial listings are for commercially zoned premises — shops, offices, industrial — and go on the commercial portals.
