How do I get setup to pay rent?
In order for your rent to be debited once your lease agreement has been signed by all parties, you'll need to add a payment method.
If you choose the 'Direct Debit' payment method:
- Confirm the micro-transactions we'll send to your bank account, to verify that it's yours
- Sign the direct debit authority emailed to you
- Sign the direct debit agreement emailed to you
If you choose the 'PayTo' payment method:
- Enter your PayID or bank details
- Confirm/accept the PayTo agreement in your banking app
When these steps are completed, your first rent in advance payment will be triggered immediately, to allow time for it to finish processing before your lease start date.
Your next rent payment won't be due and triggered for processing until one rent period into your lease agreement. You can see scheduled payment dates from your tenant dashboard. Your Payments page lists your upcoming rent payments and bills with their status, and shows an Add Payment Method prompt if one still needs to be set up before rent can be collected.
Renewing your tenancy?
The steps above are for your first agreement. On a renewal there's no rent in advance, but a PayTo agreement only covers one tenancy agreement, so you'll need a new one for the renewal. If you pay by direct debit you only need to update the amount, and only if the rent has changed. See Do I need to set up my payment method again for a renewal?.
