What happens when someone makes an enquiry?

If you've received an enquiry that seems odd or incomplete, it’s natural to feel cautious — especially if there’s no message or the formatting feels unfamiliar. But rest assured, most of the time, it's not a scam.

In fact, it's very common for genuine buyers to submit an enquiry with only their name, phone number, or email address — especially if they’ve used the "Get price indication" or "Contact agent" buttons on realestate.com.au. These forms often don’t require buyers to write a message at all.

  • It’s likely a legitimate enquiry — just someone expressing early interest.
  • Simply reply with a short, friendly message, such as:

“Hi, thanks for your enquiry. Let me know if you’d like to arrange a time to inspect or ask any questions.”

  • Or, give them a quick call if they’ve provided a phone number. Often a brief conversation will quickly clarify whether they’re a serious buyer.

Here’s what to do:

1. Forward it to us for review

Send the email to our support team at [support@propertynow.com.au]() and let us know you’re concerned. We’ll check the message and confirm whether it’s a genuine enquiry or spam. We’ll get back to you promptly with advice on what to do next.

2. Do not click on any links or download attachments

If the email contains links, do not click them until we’ve reviewed it. Suspicious emails may contain phishing attempts or malware.

3. Common signs of spam or scams include:

  • Poor grammar or strange wording
  • Requests for money or personal information
  • Generic or unrelated property questions
  • Foreign buyer claims with urgent deadlines
  • Email addresses that don’t match the enquiry name or seem unrelated to real estate

4. You can also block or report the sender

Most email platforms allow you to mark the message as spam or block the sender — but always forward it to us first if you're unsure. Make sure you only block any direct emails you receive from buyers or tenants. Do not block emails from PropertyNow or mark our email as spam.

Your safety and confidence are important to us. We’re here 7 days a week to help if you’re ever in doubt.
