What documents do I need for proof of ownership and ID?
To comply with Australian real estate legislation and portal security policies, we must verify that you have the right to list the property.
Before your listing can go live, you will need to upload:
- A recent Rates Notice (or a Title Search).
- A copy of your Driver's Licence.
- Note: These documents are used for internal verification only and are never shared with buyers or displayed on your listing.
When are my documents checked?
We check your documents once you submit your listing for publication, not when you upload them. After you submit, checks usually take 1 to 3 hours during our support hours (9:00am to 5:30pm AEST, seven days a week).
Other documents we may ask for
- Not settled yet? A settlement notice or confirmation from your conveyancer or solicitor can stand in for the rates notice. Listing before settlement also needs a signed authority to list, plus photo ID for every owner.
- Authority to sell: if we or realestate.com.au ask for one, upload it in the same ownership documents section, or email it to us.
- Probate or other special circumstances: contact our team and we'll let you know exactly what's needed.
