Understanding capaign reports from realestate.com.au

Deciphering data shouldn't require a detective degree. These reports are your "window" into how the market is reacting to your property, but the terminology used by Realestate.com.au (REA) can sometimes feel like a different language.

Here is your guide to understanding your weekly Campaign Reports. These provide a snapshot of how many people are looking at your ad and, more importantly, how many are taking action.

When will I get my first report?

The system waits until you have a full week of data to ensure the trends are meaningful. You can expect your first email approximately 8 days after your listing goes live, and every 7 days thereafter. If your order the reports after your listing has gone live, you'll receive your first report within 24 hours.

Key Metrics Explained

To make sense of the numbers, here are the three most important sections of the report:

Metric

What it actually means

Search Result Views

How many times your property appeared in a list of search results. (The buyer "scrolled" past you).

Property Page Views

The number of people who actually clicked on your ad to see the full details and photos.

Engagements

The "Gold Standard" metric. This includes people who clicked to reveal your phone number, sent an email, or saved the property to their shortlist.

Total Views vs. Property Page Views

Don't be alarmed if your "Total Views" are much higher than "Page Views." Total views include every time your thumbnail appeared on a screen. Page Views are the metric that matters most—it shows genuine interest.

A word on Phone Reveals

One of the most common questions we get is: "The report says I have 3 phone reveals, but no one has called me! Have I missed enquiries?"

The short answer is: No. On Realestate.com.au, your contact number is "masked" as an anti-spam and tracking measure. A Phone Reveal simply means a user clicked the button to unmask the number so they could see it.

  • Why they didn't call: The user may have written the number down for later, got distracted, or simply changed their mind.
  • Data Capture: Because this happens on the REA website, we cannot capture the user's information at the "click" stage. We only receive their details and notify you once they actually dial the 1300 number and enter your unique 4-digit enquiry code.

If you see reveals but no calls, it’s a sign that people are curious, but they haven't taken the final step to reach out yet.

How to Use This Data Strategically

The Campaign Report is more than just a weekly update; it’s a tool to help you fine-tune your listing:

  • High Search Views / Low Page Views: People are seeing your ad in the results but choosing not to click. Strategy: You might need a more "clickable" hero photo or a more compelling headline.
  • High Page Views / Low Engagements: People are reading your ad but not contacting you. Strategy: This often indicates the price might be slightly high for the current market, or the description is missing key information.
  • The "Saved" Count: Keep an eye on the "Saves." These are your most serious prospects who are likely waiting for an open home or a price adjustment.
