How do I mark my listing as under offer, under contract or sold?
Found a buyer? Congratulations — updating your listing status takes about a minute, and everything's reversible if plans change.
Under offer vs under contract: what's the difference?
There's no single industry term, and the major portals each picked a different one:
- Realestate.com.au calls it "Under Contract".
- Domain calls it "Under Offer".
They mean the same thing. Because PropertyNow syncs to both sites at once, you make one update in your account and our system pushes the correct terminology to each portal automatically.
How to update your status
- Log in to your PropertyNow dashboard.
- Click "My Account", then "Manage property and edit listings".
- Find your property and click "Update Status" (next to the Edit option).
- Choose Under Contract / Under Offer — or Sold once the contract is unconditional. See When do I mark my listing as sold? for the exact rules and which date to use.
- Hit save, and we'll sync it across all sites.
Changed your mind? No dramas.
If a sale falls through or you'd like to keep marketing while contracts are finalised, you can return your listing to "for sale" at the click of a button — free of charge. Marking your property under offer or sold never locks you in.
How long can it stay under offer?
Up to 6 weeks at a time. Contracts fall through more often than people expect, and buyers who see "under offer" assume the property is gone, so we don't want a listing sitting there indefinitely if the sale has stalled. Before the 6 weeks are up, either put it back to for sale, mark it sold (and give us the contract date and price), or withdraw it.
If we don't see a change, we'll email you to check where things are at. If we don't hear back within 7 days we'll update the status based on what we know. If that ends up withdrawing a listing you still want, contact us within 30 days and we'll reinstate it free of charge.
