How do I add my bank account as a landlord?
As a landlord, you need to add a bank account if you'd like to set up rent payments with your tenant via PropertyNow. It's best to do this right away so you can receive money as soon as your tenant pays it.
You can add a bank account as soon as you have an active subscription. Just go to 'Bank Accounts' underneath your property and click 'Link Bank Account'.
Your account then goes through two checks, in this order:
- A name check. We ask your bank to confirm that the account name you entered matches their records. This happens automatically as soon as you add the account.
- A deposit check. Once the name check clears, we deposit small amounts into the account. Log back in, click 'Verify' and confirm those amounts.
You'll see one of these statuses against the account while this is happening:
- Awaiting user verification — the name check cleared. Watch for the small deposits and confirm them.
- Pending — your bank couldn't confirm the name. Our team reviews these, and we'll be in touch if we need anything from you. The small deposits are sent once it's cleared, so there's nothing to do in the meantime.
- Invalid — your bank has reported the account as closed. Add a different account.
Please note: Without a verified payout account, we cannot deduct rent on your behalf.
The account details you give should be where you'd like to receive rent. If you've already found a tenant, don't enter their bank account details in this area; they'll set up their own bank account within the Tenant app.
