Does PropertyNow handle smoke alarms and other compliance checks?

We don't manage compliance for you. Our rental management tools help you advertise, create the lease, collect rent and keep your records in one place, but we don't attend your property or act as your managing agent. That means safety and compliance items stay with you as the landlord, including:

• smoke alarm servicing, and registration where your state requires it
• pool safety inspections or certificates
• any other inspections, servicing or certificates your state requires

Requirements differ from state to state, so check the rules that apply to your property (your state's rental authority website is a good place to start) and book any servicing directly with a provider.

Victorian landlords: order inspections through us

If your rental is in Victoria, you can order compliance inspections as add-ons from Listing Enhancements in your account. A qualified tradesperson carries out the check and you receive a report:

• Smoke alarm safety check (required every year)
• Electrical safety check (required every two years)
• Gas safety check (required every two years)

It's still your responsibility to keep the property compliant, including ordering these checks when they're due.
