# When do I mark my listing as sold?

Congratulations on finding a buyer! realestate.com.au requires sold listings to be updated promptly, so here's when to make the change.

### When should I mark my listing as Sold?

Mark your listing as **Sold** within **72 hours** of whichever of these happens first:

* **The contract becomes unconditional.** Any cooling-off period has ended, and any conditions such as finance or building and pest have been met. You don't need to wait for settlement.
* **The property sells at auction.**
* **You publicly say it's sold**, for example with a "Sold" sticker on your sign or a post on social media or another website.
* **Settlement happens**, if for some reason you weren't able to mark it sold earlier.

### What date do I enter as the sold date?

Enter the date the **contract of sale was signed**. This isn't the date it became unconditional, and it isn't the settlement date.

### Check the price and date before you save

Once a listing is marked as sold, realestate.com.au locks the sold price and sold date. Changing them afterwards means applying to them with a copy of the contract of sale. Please double-check both before saving. If you've made a mistake, contact us and we'll help.

### What happens next?

Your listing moves to the Sold section of realestate.com.au and Domain, and buyers stop receiving it in "for sale" alerts.
